Ring heart.

This is one of the rings my nan gave to me before she died. It's my favourite ring of them all. I placed the ring in the middle of a quotation book, next to the word Love and shined a light to form a heart shaped shadow.
I miss you nan <3

Hubbard's Cupboard VM

Found this little gem of a shop hidden away in an arcade in Cardiff. I absolutely fell in love with every single thing in Hubbard's Cupboard (cute name!). Vintage suitcases stacked up around the shop and tiny ceramic perfume bottles placed on the tables. I particularly love how items have been placed on a dressing table as though the shop had been lived in. Definitely going back this weekend to buy a few bits and bobs!

Easter

Yesterday was my first day volunteering at my local charity shop and I'm already looking forward to planning the next window display next week. Easter is coming up so I'm hoping the Easter bunny has donated some bits and bobs so I can design the perfect window. Ideally, I'd like to imitate spring time wildlife, with ceramic bunny rabbits, chicks and deer placed on a green table cloth/bed sheets to look like grass. Pastel colours reflect spring time so I'm planning on putting together a cute outfit for the window's focal point.

I'd imagine we'll be getting some donations of Easter eggs, cards and gift sets before then seeing as Mind receive  You'd be surprised at how much stuff charity shops get that are brand new! Check out the post before, most of the items have never been used/opened. I'll be putting up more photos next week!

First day as a window dresser at my local charity shop.

So today was my first day volunteering as a window dresser at my local charity shop. The charity, Mind, is set up to raise money for those struggling with mental health.

I decided to create a window display based on Mother's Day as its only a few days away. The first window was based on the colour pink, whilst the second window concentrated on shades of purples. I used purple hard back books placed on top of each other to display crockery on top. This is an effective way to display items at different heights as items often compete for space when placed on one level.

It's a great feeling seeing the items in the window sell as soon as you've put them up! That's the art of visual merchandising.

1980s Canon camera

This was bought for only £3 from my local charity shop! With two AA batteries and a camera film from Poundland, this vintage beauty works like a brand new camera. It has self-timer, flash, auto focus and you can even manually change the ISO. I can't wait to see what the photographs come out like!

Thrifting!

I’m Celyn. 23 year old fashion graduate from Cardiff. I’m a self confessed charity shop-aholic! I am currently volunteering at my local charity shop as a window dresser. My aim is to transform the cluttered, mis-matched windows into an eye-catching, on trend display to hopefully encourage younger people to shop at charity shops. Why do you rarely see young people shopping at charity shops? A lot of it’s to do with the way young people perceive charity shops and the negative connotations they have that charity shops are smelly, tacky and aimed at old people. Of course, I can’t argue with the fact that charity shops can sometimes smell a bit… dusty? (putting it politely) but I believe I can change the way young people look at charity shops by simply changing the window display to appeal to a wider audience and  potentially maximize sales.

Seagulls, Strawberries and Sunshine.

Hungry Spanish seagulls caught on camera.

Strawberry daiquiri on the marina. Love this shot.
Lense flair and sunshine peeking through the palm trees.

BEAUTIFUL BARCELONA!

So, I've just got back from Barcelona. Probably my favourite European city! I love it. Here are just a few photos from the wonderful markets. The vibrant colours you see here are definitely nothing like the markets you get here in Britain!
